It has taken a year to get to this point but there is still a lot to do. The task list continues to grow, Maybe it’s just inherently safer to add to a job list than to remove. Sailors procrastinate too. Certainly it takes less time to add than to subtract a task. I though we could get the list done, but we can’t, so I think we are going to have to leave with items on the list.
We learned a lot from our previous year aboard, we traveled for a year from Canada to Mexico. Back then, we were happy with whatever equipment and comfort level he had. Today we are more picky so it’s become harder to leave without the growing number of things and at the same time find the room for them all.
A place for everything and everything in it’s place was a major learning. ‘Things’ have to remain in their place as the boat rocks. Not always easy to do. So we are getting creative, finding and making places on the boat to store stuff. We added a sliding drawer to the chart area making it easier to get access to the very back ( it’s a deep narrow space), a knife drawer, added a drawer in a previously hidden and unaccesable space near the nav table.
